Summary
LIMRA and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) Research Institute have jointly conducted a study of deferred annuity mortality experience covering calendar years 2015 through 2024. The intent of this study is to provide recent annuitant mortality experience, which can be compared to the 2012 Individual Annuity Mortality (IAM) Table and U.S. population mortality. Twenty-six companies contributed data to the current study, encompassing 50% of industry sales during the study period. The current study encompasses 80 million contract-years exposed, $9.3 trillion in account value exposed and over 1.4 million deaths over a ten-year period.
