The SOA Board of Directors’ approval of the ballot means they have reviewed the process followed by the SOA Nominating Committee and are satisfied that the Committee has carried out its charge, and followed policies and guidelines. The SOA Nominating Committee, not the SOA Board of Directors, endorses the candidates.
*2025 Reserved Seat
The Board has approved the recommendation from the Nominating Committee and Governance and Policy Committee to reserve one Elected Board Member (EBM) seat in the 2025 Board election for an international member from the East/Southeast Asia region. A minimum of two endorsed international EBM candidates are included on the ballot for this reserved seat, and per policy, are identified (*). Reserved seat candidates currently reside in, and have resided in for the last three years, one of the following regions: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau SAR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan area, Thailand or Vietnam. Further, the member’s primary focus of work should be in the East/Southeast Asian market.
**In connection with the current Governance Review Project, potential bylaw changes may affect certain governance matters, including Board roles and responsibilities.
Voting Process
Associates who have been members of the SOA for at least five years and all Fellows are eligible to vote. Voting will open on August 18, 2025, and close on September 5, 2025.
